Acquired some hackberry wood & thought I'd try it.
As always when trying something new I started small & with something cheap.
A 14 oz center cut bone in pork chop, looks like a porterhouse.
Seasoned with a prize winning steak rub a friend gave me.
Smoked for 30 minutes indirect & a quick sear.m
Served with fries & sweet corn.
Hackberry is fine, probably side by side we'd never know if wasn't pecan.
The rub was great, first time I tried it going on a steak soon.

That looks good, I wouldn't have thought of using hackberry to smoke with. We burn a lot of that for firewood. What did you cook this on?

That's a mighty good lookin' plate right there!

will have to keep in mind next time I get one for firewood.

I'm a hackberry fan too. Great looking meal!

I have a big gnarly hackberry in my front yard. Never once thought of using it as smoking wood.
