I know seasoning is to prevent rust but dous it have more uses than this
I'm building a stainless uds so rust is no problem

The question is do i need to season it for another reason

And iff so just like any other or different and what is the best way

Thanks

It's not called preventing rust procedure, "seasoning" is used for mostly that. Would you prefer a burger off a new S.S. flat top grill or a seasoned one? Folks will love just the smell of your UDS after it's seasoned.
Smoke some fatties in that baby! That wonder patina will have a good start!

Let'r rip!!! Just start cookin'... the only thing that will season her up is lots of smoking/cooking time. If you want to kick start the patina, give it a light coating of cooking spray (pam) and ramp it up to 300-350* for the first fire up. It's all good, just get to cookin''!!

I'd just start cooking on it. It will season in no time. I used bacon grease on the walls of mine and ran it hot before I cooked.
