How to register team name.

Got some checks for placing at the Weston Comp this weekend. The checks were made out to our team name and the bank won't take them. They said I can register our team name through the state via the internet. With the forms they send me I will be able to cash the checks. Has anyone else had to do this? Please point me in the right direction.

I used to just put a slash then my name on the checks but got tired of it. Went to county recorder office, filed a form for like $15 for a factitious business name. Then took documents to bank and opened account. Took a couple weeks but banker opened account on good faith I would bring in forms.

I did a dba online for $7 with the state of mo. After we won belton. You can print it out right away and take it to the bank.

My first few I just explained to the bank that I did a BBQ comp and won money. (It helped that I was in (at least) there every two weeks with my other banking needs and they knew me some) But they just let me sign as the team name and then sign with my name below to cash the checks.

I now have an LLC (because I sell some stuff) and a business account in the team name.
