Wandering around with a bag of matchlight, looking for a match.
Hello everybody,
I'm Martin from the Netherlands, Europe and I've been grilling and BBQ-ing actively since 1991 I think, when I had a student chamber with a small balcony. My first real BBQ/grill was on highschool though when I was selected with some others to arrange food for a 100 people on a camp.
Not knowing how to cook, but having seen my father grill since I can remember that seemed the only safe option.
I've been using a variety of grills and started using a Weber Smokey Joe some 15 years ago. After 3 years I upgraded to a normal size kettle and as it is getting tired after a 1000 uses. So, it's time to move on to the real thing.
The real thing in my case means I'm ordering a Good One Open Range as we only have a small garden and I don't have the room for both a Grill and a Smoker.
Pellet Smokers would've been tricky as I can never be sure that I'll be able to import the pellets for years to come, and charcoal is easy to get all year around.
I don't expect i'll be very active on the forum as I don't know the brands, restaurants etc. I might have some recipes you don't have, but it can be tough for you guys to get the ingredients I imagine, so don't expect wonders in that department either.
Even the way meat is cut is slightly different from country to country.
And that's all folks!
PS yes, I did the Looney Tunes referency on purpose. No need to thank me.
