So got hour today to stat uds

1 - all parts got, in box ready to go

2 - made up my sliding vent gor bottom and drilled corrosponding holes in barrel

3 - loaded up my new barrel and burned out for hour

4 - looks like paint fair tough as not all burned off at bottom

5 - gas torch and still bo joy with paint

6 - load up 2nd fire and still smouldering away 2hr later

Have pics but not uploaded yet

Hope get few hours tomorrow

Will build my basket,

Drill all holes

Then try grind and burn last bit paint off

If paint was off i think 3 hours all need

Hav stick with ss bolts until can find supplier ss u bolts as none here sll galvo

Also no thermometer built in

Be fittin 3 magnetic ikea ones

2 for meat one for drum temp
 
Most uds have the dial thermometer on side

I am going skip that

I stead i have 3 chep elec display thermometers from ikea

They have magnetoc base so i can make nice Stainless shelt on drum amd they wil magnet on

Will havr 3. One to shoe drum temp and other 2 be used for meat temp

Depending on your quality of stainless your magnets may not stick. Send me round trip airfare and I'll stop out and give you a hand. I'll buy the Guiness. Keep us posted, sounds like a good build.
 
Well hole saw was blunt so couldnt cut hole for chimney. Also ran oits paint.

Gotta get paint and turesday go dowb father in law and weld chimney in

Got my head mixed up in rush in rain and put my 3 wheels in wrong. Measured 130* not 120* so rear 2 caster wheels 10* too close

Worst case ill hang tenp gauges on small plates

Everythin ready bolt on once gey paint

Daddy dsy care now so might get it tomorrow

2hour burn and 4 hours today. Say 2hr max all that left

tomorrow hope do final paint and bolt together
 
did you drill a ton of holes in the bottom of the drum? I can't quite see...If yes, wondering how that will hold up..also if it causes heat issues..
