Richmond, VA

I strongly recommend Q BBQ. There's one location just off of I-95 on the north side of town. I was going almost weekly when I had to visit Raleigh. It's one of the best BBQ restaurants I've been to, period. They are very consistent and very good. You will notice a great many trophies on your way in, including grand champion of the Jack. They are the restaurant of Tuffy Stone's Cool Smoke team:

Typically, I would get the two-meat platter with ribs and brisket (yes, their brisket is very good, which is unusual in this area). I also had a soft spot for their pineapple hot dish, but others found it a bit too sweet. Here's a short review:

Tuffy Stone's bbq restaurants are good.

Also Buzz and Ned's is good. But go to the original location by the Diamond, that is hte better of his locations.

Q is good but try Buzz and Neds, I think they are better, two locations in Richmond. There is another place that may be better than both now, opened a year or so ago called Deep run Roadhouse, it's on the west side of the city 20 minutes or so from downtown.

Like aawa said the location by the diamond is a little better but watch out for the Redskins training camp schedule, it is very close to that location and brings crowds.

Drop me a PM if you need more info

I tend to rarely go out for BBQ, since I enjoy making it at home. But I would recommend Buzz n Neds over any of them. I've never been disappointed there.

I hear that Alamo BBQ is great, but not in the greatest of areas.

I've only been to Q once, and thought the pulled pork was just ok. But I hear their ribs are awesome.

I've heard good things about Hogshead BBQ and Mission BBQ as well.

My daughter tells me the Deep Run Road house is the best in the area she lives there, however I don't think she has been to Q BBQ.

I heard this place is good.Tuffy Stone owns it.

Q is great and they have great sides too. The chicken is unbelievable.

I was unimpressed with Buzz and Ned's near Parham and Broad. The overwhelming flavor was that of oak, and it was a sour flavor at that.

I had Buzz and Nedz when I was coming home from Germany. I was tired, but when I bit into the ribs, the sauce woke me up. I was amazed. You won't be disappointed.
