Anybody make Rockney Terry's Pork rub from Legends of Texas Barbecue?

I am really enjoying reading the book. I do wonder if the rub recipe "Rockney Terry's Pork Rob" has a mistake. The recipe calls for 3 tablespoons of cayenne. That seems like a lot compared to the other ingredients. Have any of the brethren made this recipe? Was the cayenne over powering? Was is it good as written? I wanted the voice of experience before trying.
