No rays in the end grain so it is not oak or ash. The pictures are a little fuzzy when you blow them up, but the split piece looks like it has the checker pattern of maple. Im not sure if other woods have that pattern.

The bark looks way too thin to be oak. I really think it looks like maple, but I've been wrong before.
