I usually simmer them in water and then smoke them until dried and my Golden Retriver loves them. Does anyone do them differently? Anyone make any other smoked treats for their pets?

I've never had the chance to try them, but many people love them.
Here's Anthony Bourndain's show "Parts Unknown" The Mississippi
Delta, where they have a Pigs Ear sandwich in a small restaurant.

I make quite a bit of bacon, panchetta, belly, etc. So when I remove the skin I throw it back on the smoker until it is like jerky then cut it into squares with some utility shears. Dog loves it.

Anything we won't eat goes to the dogs. Chicken skin trimmings thrown onto the grill as it preheats always go over well.
