I'm pretty impressed by what I've seen of the Good Ones. Do any of you have a good one? Has anyone built a clone? I'm thinking about building one.

I use a Good One to smoke my pork butts and brisket. It does a real great job. There is a learning curve to it but one you understand it it is close to set it and forget it. I can get a 9-10 hour burn on 2 bags of Best of the West charcoal from Sam's. I add a lulls log of wood on top for flavor. One I put the meat on, I don't open the cooking chamber until the charcoal is burnt out. I don't have the thermometer on the unit anymore, so I can't tell you at what temp I am cooking.

Let me know if you have any questions.

thanks for the response guys.
what is the learning curve you speak off, fire control?

As you know, the Good One's have the fire box all the way across the back of the cooking chamber. Most people are used to making a fire in on pile and tending that. With the Good One it is easier to light one end of the charcoal chamber and let it burn across. If more cooking time is needed add more charcoal and let it burn back across.
