![]() Saw many suggestions of a thin layer of oil, and then a layer of wax paper - giving that a shot right now. Hope it works.

![]() Wait for a cold day, melt some lard in a saucepan and brush on a few layers allowing it to set up between coats.
This 100% prevents any oxidation and rusting over winter time if it sit's unused.
