ABT with a twist ... sausage?

My interwebs searching took me to a video where the Duck Dynasty clan was doing some holiday cooking on a TV show, and I saw they made their ABT's by caking ground sausage (breakfast style it looked) before they wrapped them in bacon. Redneck brilliance!

Does the sausage flavor overwhelm the rest of the turd though?
 
I've used Little Smokies sausages in ABTs before and they were great! I've never tried bulk sausage.
 
I think JasonJax (op) was saying they layered (coated) the sausage around the ABT, then wrapped them in bacon??
 
Yeap. That's the technique. I'm going to try it on a few of the ABT's and see how it turns out.
