I got my 80 gal. air compressor turned into a beercan chicken/hamburger/hot dog/steak cooker and got rid of a 120 center feed that needed WAY too much work and built my 1st Reverse Flow outta a 120 propane tank and mounted them on a 5x10 trailer.
Also counter sunk a Turkey fryer propane burner to fry fish/boil p-nuts/make gumbo, etc. into the left front corner of the trailer.
Got the 120 built about amonth ago and cooked on it 4 times already.
I've never used a Reverse flow before and am impressed how it works.
I built it because my buddy has a 120 RF hybrid (he uses tuning plates instead of a single baffle plate)that I love to eat from.
BUT,I don't like the way HE cooks.Over spices things, always want to wrap and splash and that wouldn't be so bad,but uses soda or some other terrible beverage that,to me,ruins the taste of the meat and or rub/spices.
Sooo,I decided to build my own.
The 1st tank I acquired was an 80 gal. air compressor tank from the junk yard I worked at.IMO,it was too small for a RF,but that was ok,because I love to cook Beercan chicken,so I built it into a charcoal grill, knowing I was going to,sooner or later, build a 120 RF.
I didn't know a dang thing about welding, nor had any tools, but persevered, bought a couple pieces here and there when I could afford it and things came together and the next thing you know,it was built.
I had just built the 80 gal. and was recently laid off from the junk yard so a friend brought me over a large home made trailer his landlord was throwing away, thinking I could sell it for scrap.
I had thought about that for a couple days when another friend called and offered me a job at his auto repair shop.
Now that I had some money in my pocket,I had an idea to mount the 80 gal to the trailer so I could tow it to my other friends house where we have a once a month horseshoe tournament and BBQ.
Knowing there was room on this big ol trailer(the bed is 5x10,total length is close to 15 ft) to mount a 120 RF,I was eager to find a tank and get started!
I'm gonna shut up for now and try to load some pictures for you guys/gals.
Here's the trailer.Bent tongue and all,LOL.Had to cut 2 feet off it.

IMG_20160106_074326.jpg
A 2,00lb spring and a 3500lb spring(for the heavier side of trailer,to offset the extra weight of RF)

24" wide by 66" long.Notice the single seam in the center? It allowed me to have a wider door than most folk.gained 2 1/2" PER SIDE,total 5 extra inches.bottom grate is 52" wide slide out.

Some might say I ruined a tank, but I wanted to pay homage to my buddies,so I used a round fire box(think I will go square next time and HECK YEAH!THERE'S GONNA BE A NEXT TIME!!!)
I also tried to emulate the large chain links used as hinges.
I ordered the wrong size.
BUT IT WORKED OUT!I'll get ya a pic of those shortly.

and air inlet/clean out.
You can't see it but I welded a scrap piece of the 1/4" plate steel to bottom of air inlet/clean out in case I scrape going over R/R tracks or up steep driveways.

Very simple design for exhaust stack damper
thumbnail_IMG_20160428_122502.jpg
1st time being fired up.Baffle plate hit 517 degrees at wide open throttle

1st cook was for my boss and co-workers for putting up with me as I built this during the slow times of the day.
From left to right-ABT's,5 racks of ribs,6 boneless/skinless chicken breast,package of 4 legs-4 thighs-4 wings and 10lb.leg quarters.Roasted corn topped it off!IMG_20160514_134528.jpg[/attach]

Small "shadow plate" welded to underside of Baffle plate at Firebox opening(shoulda made it bigger.Seems to be a small hot spot near firebox)
thumbnail_IMG_20160416_160223.jpg
To prevent my doors from springing I cut everything out except 4- 1 1/2" sections at each corner (on the side cut.I cut top and bottom cut completely,to weld the top strip, bottom strip and hinges).
I wait for the metal to cool overnight, then weld my hinges, top strip and bottom strip,THEN make my final cuts.So far on the 2 I've done,I've had no warp or springing at all, knock wood!

Sacrifical 1/4" scrap welded to bottom of air inlet...
thumbnail_IMG_20160418_132041.jpg
Simple handle made of 1/2" rod and cool touch handles
thumbnail_IMG_20160330_113303.jpg
7 1/4" circle welded over bung holes
thumbnail_IMG_20160419_165108.jpg
Baffle plate with 1" grease dam.I did not install a drain.Don't want any water in here.Just my preference.
thumbnail_IMG_20160420_103854.jpg
Calculator said I'd need 66 square inches for opening at at end of baffle plate.(I made it 75% the size of Firebox to Cook chamber opening)
which equaled 3" wide by 22" long.but the bell end isn't square and I was worried about not having enough air,so stretched opening to 4" in hopes of making up that volume.Seems to work pretty good so far...
thumbnail_IMG_20160420_103938.jpg
bottom grate made and installed.measures 52" wide
thumbnail_IMG_20160421_145241.jpg
Had to buy a full 4x8 sheet of 1/4" steel for Baffle plate and no way to cut it,so had a shop Plasma cut a few pieces for me on their big ol CNC plasma table.on the left is for the brakes to recess into and a few discs,to cover bung holes and used as rain caps
thumbnail_IMG_20160422_140212.jpg
Again. What a PITA to cut a circle(for exhaust stack) with 3" cut off wheel, but at least I now have an air tool!
thumbnail_IMG_20160427_080647.jpg
More close ups of the rain caps
