Attention 2014 Throwdown Master finalists Toast, Al Czervik, Buccaneer, & Charred Apron:

Greetings Finalists!

You've made the final round, and now you will have to earn the title of 2014 BBQ Brethren Throwdown Grand Master by cooking for it!

Here is what we would like you to do:

Prepare a meal worthy of a TD Master using the following ingredients contained in 3 separate baskets:

Basket 1 - Protein:

Tri-tip
Lamb
Full Chicken Wings
Scallops
Pork Chop(s)

Basket 2 - Vegetables/Grains:

Oats
Jasmine Rice
Cabbage
Hot Pepper(s)Can be any kind of hot pepper, including fresh, pickled or canned.
Avocados

Basket 3: Surprise Ingredients:

Ground Coffee Beans
Sriracha
Apples
Fresh Cilantro(Fresh parsley may be substituted if fresh cilantro is not available)

You must use ONLY one item from Basket 1 and ONLY two items from Basket 2, and you must use ALL items in Basket 3.

You will be given two full weeks to plan and prepare your entry. Once you have a meal that you feel is worthy of a TD Master please post the details here.

Standard Throwdown rules will apply.

The judges, your fellow Brethren, will be given one week to decide your fate.


You may submit entries that are cooked from Friday 2/6 through the entry submission deadline of 10 a.m. Central US Time on Monday 2/23/15.

Entry pictures must be submitted by 10 a.m. Central US Time on Monday morning 2/23

The ENTRY and VOTE threads will follow Q-Talk rules, meaning QUALITY ON-TOPIC discussion of the category or entries only, please. Discussion is encouraged to take place in the DISCUSSION THREAD, but if you want a recipe, or are looking for details or have QUALITY ON-TOPIC comments to make about an entry or the category you can make them in the ENTRY or VOTE thread. Non-quality posts that are made here will be deleted and the offending member will be asked why they couldn't just post in the DISCUSSION thread instead, and in extreme cases or repeat offenders, disciplinary action WILL happen

Are other condiments, spices, and vegetables permited if the other mandatory ingredients are utilized?

Congratulations to the Mods, quite an exciting and teasing list of ingredient matches!!
O lot of thought has gone in to this, great stuff for a Master TD!:clap2:

Absolutely, of course! You just need to include all of the items as required in each basket.
 
So is that really coffee grounds? To me, coffee grounds are the stuff left after making coffee. :confused:

Good catch, Ron! We meant ground coffee beans. I will change this...
 
Just want to make sure from the Mods. I plan to use Brussels Sprouts as they are a cabbage. Making sure this is acceptable to the bearers O the Dilly Bars. What say you Mods?
