I make this pretty often. The main reason I like it is..... it's tasty and it only takes about 35 minutes to grill. Kind of a quick meal that will feed several people.

The recipe is called Chinese BBQ Pork, got it from my mom years ago. She used whole pork butts and an oven but I like the grilled version better.

The marinade....
(make a double batch if needed to cover the meat)
2 cloves minced garlic
one "thumb sized" piece of fresh ginger peeled and minced
3 tsp sherry
3 1/2 TBS soy sauce
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 TBs honey
1/2 tsp five spice
and about 1/2 tsp red food coloring

The meat comes out moist and tender. I love the fact that it's so quick to grill....about like a thick pork chop. The whole meal is ready in 35 to 40 minutes. :)

Thanks for looking!

Well guess who has a pork loin thawing out in the fridge right now? :whoo: I was trying to figure out what I was going to do with it - I don't think I can sneak another boring pork loin past the fam and this looks like it's gonna save me - and them! Perfect timing - you rock!

The variety of your posts continues to amaze me - thanks for the wealth of fantastic ideas Jeanie!

Paul thank you for the kind comment too!! My mom was a good cook. Hope she approves of what I do.

Beautiful dish!! I bet it taste as good as it looks!!

Aaron thanks so much!! It's one of my favorites.

I love Chinese food, and especially spicy dishes. Looks like what you have could be spiced up quite easily. Of course, I could destroy that picture perfect dish you posted to where it would look like one of those Oklahoma twisters hit it head on. If you had a restaurant open in Oklahoma, I would have to uproot and move to the area just to eat some of your delicious meals you have posted on here over time.

Blessings to you!

Omar

Dayummmmmmmm! Another delicious looking dish. I have got to invent a transporter so I can beam that dish to my house!

Pork fried rice is a favorite at our house. You've got all the bases covered with this cook. Must give this a try!
Thanks for the post Jeanie, another phenomenal cook and presentation!
