Hi folks, I'm a newbie on here as well as smoking meat. I've been smoking the last few months that I am no longer allowed to use a regular fril5. Lol. Anyway I was given this monster homemade smoker and trailer. I've never used one this big so having difficulties figurING out the size of the firebox. It's about 85" long and the width is about 30" vent pipe is 36" long. I'm looking to make it a reverse flow. I'm thinking 1/4 plate, is that ok. Also was playing with the idea of attaching the firebox on the middle and add another vent. What do you thinks. Last question. Will a 20# propane tank work as the firebox? I am attaching the picture for illustration. Tia

Use Feldons posted above Also look at Google images at Smokers that size to get a visual.
Too Big is Fine up to a point but Too Small will create troubles......

You could also cut off 24 to 30" inches and drop it for the Firebox.......... plate the end.

I stalked you tube for all my problems I had, too. But no, a 20# cylinder will NOT be big enough, not even close.
