A couple of camp cooks from last time out.

Went with a plate of beef short ribs again, I really like them. Planned on around 6 hours for these.
Slathered in bacon drippings and seasoned with coarse salt and cracked black pepper.

Onto the low heat side of the fire..

flipped and rotated the ribs every so often... added a log to the fire when needed.

That's pretty much it. Ribs, corn and tomatoes from the garden..

This was one of those "last of the bacon, etc.." meals.

started with cubed tatoes, onions, cooked sausage,

flour to thicken, and seasonings...

do%20breakfast%20lake%20019res_zpsrs8sl3lr.jpg

some cubed, grilled pork tenderloin from another meal...

do%20breakfast%20lake%20021res_zps9wqzsyp1.jpg

added milk, smoked cheese and dotted with butter for good measure.

do%20breakfast%20lake%20023res_zps6zyjl43y.jpg

used the last of the bacon for a lattice...hit it with pepper..

do%20breakfast%20lake%20026res_zpspqyokyx7.jpg

shoveled a few hot coals on top and let er go..

in about 45 minutes, it was hot and bubbly...

do%20breakfast%20lake%20050res_zpstj5p5bwx.jpg

rotated the pot and the lid every so often for even cooking...

fruit on the plate to make it look healthy.. :)

It was creamy, gooey and smokey. Sort of a cross between scalloped tatoes and tatoes with gravy.

Thank you Tom! They work well going low and slow. Hope you have great luck with them!

Wow, that's crazy. So many things in that DO.
I REALLY need on of those. Between things like this and your Beirocks, [sp?], I must have one.
Fantastic.

Fantastic.

Thanks Bob! You really do need a dutch oven. They're easy to use and pretty handy. Toss anything in there and add heat, then go find something to do while it cooks. :biggrin1:

I think if we gave you "a" match and some kind off meat you would be able to still post pics of food that looks amazing! There is nothing you have ever cooked that I would not have eaten and been unhappy ! Great job as always! And always a peaceful setting! Envious!
