Contest Results Central Illinois Bragging Rights, Arthur, IL - Oct. 9 & 10, 2009

I was just about to post them. KCBS results below. In addition to the KCBS categories the had Friday night categories for Sauce, Sausage, Side Dish (must contain squash) and dessert (must contain apple). They didn't give us the results for those but here is what I remember...

I think those are correct.

They also gave out the Illinois Team of the Year award for the team with the highest cumulative score for their top 6 competitions cooked in Illinois. This year's winner was Smokey Joel Cubby Bear

And there was a mixup in the points race, George the organizer came by looning for Gilly, they misspelled his name so he didnt get credit for the Arthur contest, Gilly actually won by 3 1/2 points! George said He was going to have to find Joel to get the trophey bak, I said, good luck with that! lol The organizer did try to get hold of Gilly, and said He would make it right with both teams. I told George good luck trying to pry that trophey from Joels Hands!

Hi Doc! I didn't see you until the awards, either! We huddled by the firepit on Friday night!

Ouch! It's too bad that the TOY was messed up. It's sad that Gil didn't get to hear his name called for TOY and accept the trophy (and cash, too, right?) in front of the crowd! I'm sure that George will work it out. He's a good guy and I know that he feels bad about the mixup.

I think they had a good idea using a team's top six Illinois competitions for the award, but maybe they should use a point system similar to the KCBS TOY or the Pickled Pig Power Rankings instead. It would be simpler.

Just in case anyone is having a hard time holding a conversation or sleeping since they got home from Arthur...
