Next build. Go big or go home.

Well done on the tank.
What are the dimensions of the tank? I just picked one up as well, but mine was a water tank, 84" x 30" dia. Curious as to how big yours is, since the guy didn't know how many gallons of water it held. I'm definitely watching this thread.

What are your overall design goals? Reverse flow?

36" by around 10'. 30x84 is more in line with a 250 gallon propane tank.

Not sure on the design. Leaning toward tuning plates instead of reverse flow.

Ok good. I was doing the math on the online calculators and its obvious that they are not correct. Thanks. I'm still trying to settle on a design as well. Been back and forth with reverse flow and tuning plates and just traditional. I'm not quite to that point yet to make a hard decision so I have some time to contemplate. Looking forward to following your thread.

Just found a good calculator and it puts my tank at 320 gallons. Cool.

Cleaned up all the cuts tonight and measured for the firebox. Struggling a bit with the size. I'm insulating it so the feldon suggested dimensions would be crazy big. It's going to be 37" wide. Mocked something up tonight and settled on 37x28x28. I think.

Using 2"/1800 degree ceramic fiber insulation.

That is one huge pit! You could make money on the side offering to cremate for the local funeral home. Two at a time! I'm just jealous.

Stopped by the steel shop today and ordered the firebox. I'll weld it up but they have a brake that can bend 1/4" so having them bend it makes it easy and pretty. :)

Here's one I had bent in the past. Making the top edges this nice without grinding sure saves time and for an amateur like me it makes it foolproof.

Made a little headway today. Lined inside doors.

Got the slide outs built and in. Still lack a bit though.

I think you need to check the dictionary for correct meaning of amateur. An amateur couldn't do what you have done so far.

I reorganized my photbucket and it broke most of the images in the previous posts so I'm reposting.

Thanks for the kind words but I'm very much an amateur.

But I do have some pro equipment! :)

An Amateur wouldn't be using a Miller welder!!

Nice job. Keep up the good work!

Got a good bit done yesterday. May not look like it but good progress.
