Can't decide!

Im in the save up for what you want crowd. Set the marks high, work hard, save a lot..just means more in the end.

Currently saving for WSM still cooking on crappy lowes special but with 3 kids, an ex wife, a current wife, etc etc well it's taking a while. Then again I just got a new to me boat so can't be doing to bad. ;-)

Oh man! I've looked and looked and looked. Nothing close to me or any of my family. Seems most people who were getting the great deals were all up in the northern states.

Those damn yankees, first it was the south now they are moving west. They just won't let anyone have nice stuff. ;-)

I believe in get what you want if you don't have the money save up till you do.
Patience is a virtue. I guess impatience is a virtue also but you get my drift.

I fall into this line of thinking also.

BUT, I have to ask are you like me and tend to dwell on what you originally wanted even after buying something cheaper that probably does just as good of a job? Or are you the kind of person that takes a sort of pride in getting similar product out of a much cheaper device than the one you wanted at first?

If you're anywhere near like option A I'd save up and buy what you originally want. Otherwise you'll wind up buying again.

If you're like option B then go get your Akorn and get to cooking and be happy.

Unfortunately, I'm somewhere in between. I will dwell and eventually buy something else IF the product didn't meet my expectations. I usually research the crap outta things to prevent this.
However, I also like getting a similar product and take pride in saving money if it turns out to be a good product. In my opinion that's where the Vision comes into play. About half the cost of a large BGE or Primo but very good reviews from people who own them. I could say basically the same thing about the Akorn too though when compared to the Vision (and other kamados).

Are the ceramic cookers really pretty fragile? I don't mistreat my stuff by any means, but whatever I get will be moved around my patio quite often. The Vision on display at Sam's this summer was chipped in several spots inside the cooking area is why I'm asking (one chip in particular was about 2" long). But on display in Sam's lord knows who or what was playing with that thing!

Maybe this thread will help you out too then :becky:

Am leaning toward that primo oval xl, myself... just love the extra room the oval shape gives you, compared to the round.... that's why my kettles are up for sale... all Cajun Ty's fault... and I have to do the outdoor kitchen thing too... thanks Ty!!!:doh::doh::doh:

I wouldn't sell all your kettles.....you know you will regret that if you do!

You could purchase an Akorn from a seller or on Craigslist and learn how to use a kamado style grill/smoker. If you like the Akorn, you are set. If you would like to try something different you can sell the Akorn and purchase another grille.
