Most contests I see say you need a free flowing spigot of water. However, in my area, apparently these types of water jugs are hard to find. The only ones I can find are the ones with a push button, so you would need another person to hold down the button while you wash your hands. Or, wash one hand at a time. If I showed up at a contest with this type of water jug, would I be disqualified? Are they really going to inspect my water jug? I am scheduled to do my first contest next month and would hate to have a problem because of a stupid water jug.

When setting up vending for the hand wash sink i do the 2.5 gallon disposable water jug also easy cheap and if i get thirsty i just fill up a cup

What kind of contests are you seeing this?

KCBS rules just state you need a container for washing, rinsing and sanitizing. Says nothing about types of water containers.

I've used the disposable water jugs as mentioned previously but I'm sure you could find those 5 gal types that have spigot rather that the push button kind as I know they make them just don't know offhand where to get them other than places like Academy or online like Amazon. I'm not from up in your neck of the woods but are you sure you're just not reading too much into that rule & misunderstanding it? IE it's more for those vending needing a 3 bay sink etc for Health Dept type thing but you actually won't???

They carry these at walmart.

I am confused are we talking hand washing, or triple sink? For a triple sink I use 3 bus tubs. For hand washing if there is no hose to be found I use a gallon jug. I have had no issues.

The firin up the fox amateur contest in st charles il specifically had a rule listed saying that you need a free flowing spigot.

I don't get why some contest organizers have to go out of their way to make more rules like this at contests. We are competitors. This isn't our first rodeo, we know how to wash ourselves and our utensils and sanitize.

Ok here's what it says -

All competitors must have a three compartment wash station, a spray bottle with bleach water (one cap of bleach for one gallon of water) and a free flowing spigot of water with a catch bucket and soap for washing hands. (water cooler or similar is acceptable)

For the 3 compartment I'd say you could get by w/ having 3 bus tubs of some kind & buy gallon jugs of water to put in them, spray bottle easy enough & for the free flowing spigot, I'd say you could get by w/ the product from Wally World mention above or one of those 2 gallon disposable things you can get just about any grocery store in their water section or the 5 gal coolers & use another bus tub to catch the overflow but then again whoever checks this part out may be more anal about what you can & can't have. Sounds a bit like the owners of the site are very anal & don't trust the competitors to clean up much after themselves or runoff into sewers type thing. This might be a red flag for me to stay away from the contest if they're that anal about things but I do clean up after myself & try to leave it as I found it. I also didn't see such rules for the pro side of the KCBS part???

I had a 5 gallon Coleman cooler. The round type. I just removed the spigot and replaced with a pvc ball valve and an elbow so it points down. Cost a couple of bucks.
