Bacon Biscuits n Sausage Gravy

Haven't had the chance to go camping yet this spring. Had to make these at home. This is one of my favorite campfire breakfasts.

Fried some bacon and made biscuits..

Added home canned lard to the dry ingredients...

Rolled out the biscuit dough, brushed with bacon drippings and topped with crisp bacon pieces...

rolled and sliced the biscuits...

Set the tire rim up in the yard. The tractor rim was not needed, this small rim blocks the wind well.

Browned some spicy sausage..

Added flour, seasonings...
milk and let er simmer til thickened.

made the gravy on the thin side...it thickens while the biscuits cook.

Placed the bacon biscuits on top...

Topped with some heat and let er go for 25 minutes or so..

Turkeys have been thick around here this spring..

It's still one of my favorite camp breakfasts but tasted pretty good at home this time.

Phenomenal Jeanie! We are taking our first camping trip next weekend we hope (wish I could have this for breakfast). Probably lots of snow still in the mountains but a good fire will cure that! Hope you are well...

Thanks Titch! I'm not sure how to describe the flavor. Biscuits and gravy with bacon tossed in. :-D
