Rusty Kettle
Babbling Farker
Well I went to pick up a Humphries and left empty handed. Unfortunately there was shipping damage on all the Weekenders that came in. We unwrapped them all and rails were bent and a chip in the paint. So I shot off an email over the weekend and it's Tuesday and no response from the manufacturer. So l am probably not buying a Humphries at this point.
I am not out to bash anyone. Just saying why we are going in another direction. Just didn't work for me to take a damaged smoker. I waited too long to be able to buy an insulated cabinet smoker. The dealer, who I consider a good friend, said he would be not be offended if I bought from someone else.
I would just order one but he was having a sale where it was free shipping and I would have to pay for it to be shipped. Then I wonder if I would be stuck with it if it got damaged in shipping. Not really important at this point. Just disappointed. I kind of had my heart set on the Weekender as it addresses all my needs.
I guess what I am asking what's out there that is similar to the Weekender that can handle full sized pans and is compact? I need to fit one large packer brisket whole and two pork butts at once. Preferably a similar price.
I saw a stumps, a backwoods, and I considered a 270 but I think the sumo won't fit easily if at all in the van. So the 270 is out I think.
The backwoods chubby 3400 sounds closest but isn't even out yet but at $699 not a bad price at all. Not sure I want to buy one that isn't even out yet.
The mini Stumpster isn't bad looking but at $1350 is stretching the budget but you know "Stumps Don't Build No Junk" then you add in shipping.
Any other smokers that might fit the Bill? Let me know.
So it has to fit a packer brisket and two butts at once. It has to be insulated and durable. Portable. Got to be in the ball park of $1,000. A warranty would be nice but not a deal breaker. Good customer service is a must. I plan to keep this for at least 6 years before I go larger. Its a long term.commitment for me so I really need top notch customer service.
So any suggestions?
