Had some lePhtover Berkshire pork Phat trimmings from last comp.
Gonna cook a Hungarian wildboar stew tomorrow and Phound out that the Hungarians cook alot with lard...so.....

Love it! I have a bunch of Phat Phrom around the belly in the Phreezer that I'm gonna render hopePhully this weekend.

Lard got a bad rap when the Pharkers who figured out hydrogenated vegetable oil and shortening went on a media campaign to disparage it. Turns out lard/animal Phats are actually better for you than those processed oils. Great Phor biscuits, great for Phrying!

Just asked Padawan what she want for side...potato mash or pan Phried potatoes.
She said pan Phried (which I wanted) so.....for me an excuse to use some more of the lard.:becky:
This will probably be accompanied with smostewed red cabbage and apples...cooked in a bit of lard.:razz:

I actually had something like that in Barcelona. It was pretty good too!
 
I keep a couple/few tubs of lard in the freezer, for those times when nothing but lard will do.
 
nice! I just rendered down some lard a few weeks ago...I use it for just about everything in my cast iron
 
So I gotta ask, how did those little cubes of fried pork fat goodness taste?

I smoke some of the hard fat I trim off of briskets. It's crunchy divine treats.
 
Good stuff!! I do that also and really like whatever is fried in it.
