My current smoker is not powder coated and while I could have had it done at the time of purchase (I was quoted 1500 dollars to get it done), I am noticing that the high temps are wrecking havoc on the high temp paint. Is it worth having it powder coated? I was also considering selling my current smoker and going to Shirley Fabrication and getting larger. Would powder coating help the resale price?

Is your firebox insulated? Can't argue with anybody considering a Shirley cooker.

I've only high heat powder coated my UDS but I like it way better than high heat paint that's for sure.

IDK how it would hold up on a fire box though

My firebox is the only place that is affected right now.. the rest of the smoker is fine and the paint looks great.
