Built a bigger smoker for a 22.5 kettle.

Have a parts list if anyone if anyone is interested.

Sealed the bottom with Gasket and the lid. It was a little loose. Might need to tighten a little.

Thing is dead on 250 with a water pan for first seasoning. Will know full capabilities after a few cooks.

Used the cutout for a heat sync and have 2 racks. Need to buy the second one. But built this for about 175.00. The bottom rack fit like a glove for water pan or drip tray along with cutout heat sync.

Going to fire up some ribs Sunday after 2 seasonings. Cant wait.

So pumped for a first smoke!! Thanks to everyone that gave me the idea for this.

The top is 2 1/2 down. Next is nine inches from the top grate and the bottom is just stuck down there. Probably 2-3 inches from the bottom.

That's cool! I made an insert like that from a drum, but that pot looks much easier! What's the deal on the pot make/model/price?

This is the pot I used. It's 120 qt.

I was going to piece out a UDS but I didn't want to burn it and mod the lid a bunch because I wanted to use the Webber lid. I was going to buy a new barrel and for the hassle of doing the whole build it was going to cost more.

All stainless hardware.
1 inch Bolts and nuts (just needed two levels because the grate fit so well on the bottom)

Kinda nice having 4 handles on the pot.

Problem when I received the pot was its about 1/2 inch slim. So I got a 1/4 inch Nomex gasket.

Had to search Amazon and could only find 1 business that had 1/4. All others where 1/8.

I have been thinking about doing the same thing. I have a mini and it's a rock solid beast of a cooker but I can't fit a brisket on it. I have a Shamrock foods in my city that has a lot of different size pots. Maybe I'll drag my Weber in there and see how they fit.

One thing I'm worried about is how sturdy it is. Does yours feel sturdy and will it still fell that way with 20lbs of Meat on it?

Pretty sturdy. I haven't done anything yet on it but when I put my hand and give it a lot of pressure it bends but feels very strong.

Same idea as a UDS just different. And I believe people do heavy briskest on those.

The pot is 1/4 inch aluminum. Feels like a brick.

Just finished a half full basket. Lasted 6 hours. Does that seem like it's efficient? Temps where right around 300 in the beginning and settled at 250 for next 5 hours.

Also should I line the lid with gasket. A little smoke was coming out of the lid.
