I've been messing around with pizza stones on my 18"and 22.5" webers with pretty good success. It just isn't getting as hot on top as it should for that real wood pizza oven crust. Is there any threads on here that deal with weber pizza oven mods?

stick a couple bricks or beer cans under the stone to raise it up closer to the top of the lid, that way the bottom wont burn because its farther from the coals and the top will cook better because its higher up into the heat

What grantw said. I use an upside down veggie basket and put my stone on top of that. Coals in the basket on each side. I can get the dome easily 475-500.

Pizza mods

Thanks for the input.
I did find the pizzakettle and subsequent mods on that site..
I did make a similar stainless collar with a stone.
I dug out my 22 1/2" cast iron griddle that came with the first weber (red) that I got at a garage sale And set it on 4 as bolts about 4" above the stone.
Man did it perform!
Pizzas done in 90 seconds!
