I’ve not had H57 in my house In decades. We needed it as meats were cooked crispy growing up. I do love Ketchup. Current favorites are French’s-Kensington and Annie’s. May have to cremate a yellow tag steak, fry some okra with a side of garden tomatoes. Then slather that burned flesh with ketchup. Perhaps stack half a loaf of white bread with a Parkay stick nearby. Revisit my youth. A well done trip down memory lane.

eww.
now a cold leftover medium rare steak on wheat toast with sharp cheddar and ketchup is purty good.
The ketchup is for dipping, dont put it on the bread, makes it soggy.

I think I'd use Heinz 57 before ketchup. Just nowhere near a steak though. I can't recall that last time I've used ketchup for something here at the house. Bbq sauce usually always trumps ketchup for a condiment.

Three crunchy T-bones split six ways.
Good times
Pass the ketchup please

I had to laugh when I read some of the responses here, and it makes me think of my 5 year old grandson. That boy puts ketchup on anything, and everything. I have watched him put it on his caeser salad, dip grapes and orange slices in it. Even puts it on chocolate chip cookies.

Sometimes it's better to have fond memories than to make it and realize how awful it was. I've been down this path a couple of times and it almost always ends in heartbreak.

Heinz ketchup is the best, but for steaks I prefer A1 Sauce.

Jimmy Buffett Lyrics

"Cheeseburger In Paradise"

Tried to amend my carnivorous habits
Made it nearly seventy days
Losin' weight without speed
Eatin' sunflower seeds
Drinkin' lots of carrot juice and soakin' up rays

But at night I'd have these wonderful dreams
Some kind of sensuous treat
Not zucchini, fettuccini, or bulgur wheat
But a big warm bun and a huge hunk of meat

Cheeseburger in paradise
Heaven on earth with an onion slice
Not too particular, not too precise
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise

Heard about the old-time sailor men
They eat the same thing again and again
"Warm beer and bread," they say, "could raise the dead"
Well, it reminds me of the menu at a Holiday Inn

But times have changed for sailors these days
When I'm in port I get what I need
Not just Havanas or bananas, or daiquiris
But that American creation on which I feed

Cheeseburger in paradise
Medium rare with mustard'd be nice
Heaven on Earth with an onion slice
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise

I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Heinz 57 and French fried potatoes
Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer
Well, good god almighty, which way do I steer...

...for my cheeseburger in paradise?
Makin' the best of every virtue and vice
Worth every damn bit of sacrifice
To get a cheeseburger in paradise
To be a cheeseburger in paradise
I'm just a cheeseburger in paradise

I like mine with lettuce and tomato
Heinz 57 and French fried potatoes
Big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer
Well, good god almighty, which way do I steer?

I think ketchup would make a good throw down

Hey Adams, I am right there with you. If a steak is ruined (well done) ketchup is the only fix

I'd go with Heinz 57 in that case...has some zing to it and not overloaded with sugar.

Said it before and will say again. The only thing ketchup is good for is mixed 50/50 with horseradish to make cocktail sauce.

Took me years to train myself to not cook meat well done like I grew up on but I always liked Heinz 57 back in the day.
