I'm still buzzing over that Brisket score!!

Congrats to the Rednecks for their GC and Mike & Barb for their RGC and to all who walked.

Great contest and well run. We had a blast and will be back. Although, I'm still bummed that no one had a T-shirt that said "I survived the great BBQ Derecho of 2012" Last year at this comp we were literally blown away by the Derecho. Windy and wild, baby!

Congrats to all that walked!

I judged this comp and must say that the seven portions of chicken I judged was all excellent.

Is is safe to assume that Redneck Scientific cooks in one or more of their barrels? Anyone else have one of these? Hard to believe that you could achieve such good results from what looks like a glorified UDS. Not trying to be negative, genuinely interested in learning more.

First, thanks to Les and the town of Covington, VA for going out of their way to make each of us feel welcome and appreciated to attend their 2nd Annual Cork and Pork BBQ Festival.

Secondly, It's more than safe to assume that 3 of the 4 meats were cooked in the barrel smokers we make at that contest. All 4 meats will be cooked on those glorified trash cans the rest of the year, most likely, or until I figure out my chicken again.

We have been cooking on the same glorified cans now competitively for 2 years. Most of them have 2-6 years of use on them.

Glorified trash cans or, what I like to call them, Redneck Convection Ovens can make good competition food. Actually, in Tryon, NC at the 2012 Blue Ridge BBQ Festival, one of those same glorified trash cans we used in Covington popped out a 180 in Ribs.

Feel free to email me at jerry (AT) RedneckSci (DOT) com if you have any specific questions you want answered! I am not on here as frequently as I once was.
