I'm here with my cooking partner, my daughter, cooking in the backyard division. It's the last comp of the season and we are in decent shape for the end of the year points race.
We also entered the SCA Steak Cook-off competition and the awards for that will be announced soon.
I will update whenever possible. The weather here could not be better!

Un-freakin-believable, last place in steak! I couldn't flavor it any more than I did and the one I didn't turn in looked perfectly cooked. I may stick to BBQ.

I thought it was outstanding, I like my beef peppery and it delivered without being overpowering. A lot of the top 10 guys tonight are top 10 in the points race for SCA nationally, so maybe I should be shigging off of them.

I forgot to take a picture of the butts beforehand, but they are at 165, on since midnight, and the Duroc ribs from a recent Creekstone sale. I am excited about those, I hope I have enough to put in the box after I start sampling them.

Well, disappointing results, but my daughter and I had a blast cooking this weekend. We had 25 teams in the backyard division and had a 5th place chicken, 18th in ribs and 15th in pork, 11th place overall. I don't know, the flavors just weren't there.
Thanks for going along for the ride with us. Maybe we will have better news at the next one.

Any day spent Q’en with your daughter at a contest, is a win no matter what.

We were there too, on the pro side. Didn't cook a steak though...those guys do all sorts of strange things to their steaks nowadays (kinda like comp BBQ ).

You are exactly right! And congratulations on your grand championship. I noticed there were at least five Brethren teams in the top 10, and it's great that you guys took first. I showed my daughter that bottle of competition Yes, Dear sauce I had and told her you guys were here cooking.

Thanks! We've been struggling this year so it was a bit of a surprise. Next time we're up that way for a contest, I'll be sure to look you up.
